Speaking to David Dundas, he Johnsen shares how operators can manage the costs of their ageing aircraft by staying informed on their options.
Johnsen explains: “Most operators would prefer repairs during shop visits rather than replacements with new parts due to cost considerations. When evaluating whether a repair is the appropriate course of action, it depends on the customer’s requirements – mostly cost versus time.
“Utilising USM as opposed to new parts will yield significant cost savings, but can sometimes be difficult to find. Certain in-demand parts will be charged at premiums.”
